HOTSPLOTS VPN: How do I set up the encryption via OpenVPN?

In order to establish a virtual private network (VPN) over our hotspots, you'll need the OpenVPN software (for Windows, Mac OS or Linux visit undefinedour Download section).

Installation in Windows:

  1. Execute the file undefinedopenvpn-2.0.9-gui-1.0.3-install.exe.
    You will probably get a message that "TAP-Win32 Adapter" hasn't passed the Windows logo test. You can nevertheless procceed with the installation.

  2. Log into the undefinedcustomer area. There you can download your personalized key as a ZIP file from "undefinedPersonal data - WiFi encryption".

  3. Extract the ZIP file into the config directory of the OpenVPN installation. (usually C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config\).

  4. After the OpenVPN GUI opens up you should see the marked icon in the tray on the lower right.

Right-click the icon and hit "connect". In the log window you can then see whether the VPN was established.
